NXT post-Takeover recap
While this week’s episode did not advance any feuds or stories within NXT, it re-introduced a fresh tag team and we may have our first match of NXT Takeover: NOLA. NXT’s main event matches are always a spectacle with high paced action especially in the last three months. This week’s NXT episode was no different.
New #1 Contender for the U.K. Championship
What an exciting main event between Roderick Strong & Tyler Bate. This was a fast-paced, hard-hitting affair. Strong focused on the Bate's back, making it difficult for Tyler to execute his finishing move. Strong took advantage and used the “End of Heartache” to pin Bate. Pete Dunne has his work cut out for him with The Messiah of The Backbreaker after his UK Championship.
TM61 Looks Strong
The vignettes for TM61 did wonders, and the Takeover crowd was hot for the reappearance of TM61. The smartest thing that NXT did was giving them opponents who are not too green in between the ropes. The Ealy Brothers have an old school heel feel to them, using their looks to cheat the ref. This could’ve been a simple squash but it showed the NXT universe that TM61 did not have any rust in the ring. The Tag Team division in NXT looks strong with the addition of TM61 as they are in position to face Undisputed Era for their titles in the upcoming month's.
Nikki Cross got a quick win over Lacey Evans, which should set her up as one of the next contenders to Ember Moon’s NXT championship. Nikki is one of the most over women in the company and they need to capitalize on her.
Undisputed vs. Sanity will takeover (no pun intended) next week’s episode with the tag team titles on the line, & Adam Cole will take on Killian Dain as well. NXT is looking to start off the Road to Takeover: NOLA with a bang
